About Me

Raised in Los Angeles, Aaron Gopal earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and his law degree from Loyola Law School. While spending many years as a lawyer advocating for the rights of consumers in “lemon law” cases (breach of warranty claims for cars), he continued pursuing the creative and spiritual callings that have shaped his life from an early age.

Aaron co-produced the feature documentary Poached, which premiered at the SXSW Film Festival and won the Best of Festival Award at the 2015 International Wildlife Film Festival. He has also written several screenplays and produced electronic rock music under the moniker Moons of Jupiter.

For nearly three decades, Aaron has immersed himself in the study and practice of meditation, breathwork, yoga, kirtan, sound healing, Advaita Vedanta, Buddhism, Hinduism, shamanism, psychedelics, and other contemplative traditions and healing modalities. Along the way, he has trained with a number of highly respected teachers, led private and group breathwork and soundbath experiences in many cities around the world, and made several pilgrimages to India in search of a deeper understanding of consciousness, healing, and the nature of reality.

Handbook for Humans is the culmination of that lifelong exploration. Aaron's hope is that this book serves as a practical guide for anyone seeking greater peace, freedom, purpose, and love.

Aaron lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with his beloved partner, nature-loving stepson, French bulldog, black kitty, and temperamental fruit trees.
